A Million-dollar Investment
WiTricity Corporation, founded in 2007, has recently finished a fresh investment round of $63 million. The round, led by a $25 million investment from industrial behemoth Siemens AG, includes investors Stage One, Airwaves Wireless Electricity, and Delta Electronics. Japan Energy Fund and Mirae Asset Capital are among other significant investors.
With the funding, WiTricity will be able to speed up product development for both passenger and commercial wireless charging. It will also aid WiTricity in transitioning into manufacturing for fleets of all sizes, including light-duty and large commercial vehicles.
WiTricity Technology Drives Wireless Charging
WiTricity technology is used in applications ranging from consumer electronics to industrial robotics. Its power ranges from milliwatts to kilowatts.Â
WiTricity chose to license its technology to Wiferion, a top producer of solutions for mobile, wireless power supplies for industrial e-vehicles. With licensees currently manufacturing devices like wirelessly charged factory robots, e-Scooters, and e-Bikes, the opportunities for WiTricity technology go far beyond electric vehicles.

WiTricity also collaborates with top automation manufacturer Siemens to improve the effectiveness of wireless charging in commercial and passenger electric vehicles.
