BorgWarner Provides Dual Inverter for Leading Chinese OEM

A Chinese brand uses BorgWarner’s high-voltage hairpin eMotors for their second-gen 800v propulsion system platform.

The high-voltage hairpin eMotor is known for its efficiency, torque density, and power. The collaboration aims to cement BorgWarner as a leader in the electric propulsion industry.

Partnership in Propulsion Systems

BorgWarner, headquartered in Auburn Hills (Michigan, USA), is an automotive industry parts and components supplier offering innovative solutions for eMotors. Taking business to new heights, BorgWarner has been chosen to deliver high-voltage hairpin (HVH) eMotors to a prime smart electric vehicle brand in China. The HVH eMotor will be used in the second-generation 800v propulsion system platform of the Chinese company. The mass production of this collaborative vehicle model is expected to start in October 2023.

Dr Stefan Demmerle, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, remarked that the company is looking forward to continuing this partnership, succeeding together in the Battery-Electric Vehicle sector. He further said, “ BorgWarner’s eMotors feature premium reliability, higher efficiency as well as a superior power and torque density, and exemplify our extensive experience in e-mobility applications.”

The 800V oil-cooled eMotors from BorgWarner inculcate permanent magnet rotors and proprietary stator insulation enhancement technologies for durability. These eMotors are available as motor assemblies or stator and rotor subassemblies. With 96% efficiency and 4% higher power and torque density than other brands, this eMotor is environment-friendly and highly energy-efficient. Additionally, it converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and charges the battery through the inverter.
