In a joint effort to develop and launch an OTT application for automotive, RT-RK recently announced a partnership with iWedia.

This partnership will help the two digital and technological giants to come together to create the first-of-its-kind OTT application for car infotainment systems.

On September 7, 2022, RT-RK- a software development house, announced its plans to come together with iWedia. The aim is to develop and launch an over-the-top entertainment platform for automobiles. The resultant project will be a blend of the Teatro media player with multi-DRM integration of iWedia and RT-RK’s expertise in

  • Handling DRM.
  • Supporting MPEG, DASH and HLS protocols.
  • Deploying streaming TV in operator environments on a large scale, and
  • Integration of Android Automotive OS system.

This will lead the way for operator TV app deployment in cars with the help of 5G. The successful deployments of iWedia can be integrated with the infotainment systems of cars like Audi, Renault, Toyota, etc.

In this regard, the CEO of iWedia, Hans-Jürgen Déscor, said that with their portfolio of OTT apps developed worldwide and the integration services of RT-RK, they could bring new content to the vehicles.

The CFO of RT-RK, Milenko Beric, believes this will be their innovative added value to their already extensive portfolio of digital TV in Android and infotainment environment integration.
