Hailo Partners With Renesas to Promote ADAS and Automate Driving

Israel-based AI Chipmaker Hailo partnered with Renesas to help automotive customers to shift from ADAS to Automated Driving.

Hailo and Renesas have come together to build a dynamic chip. This is to ensure that ADAS and AD systems are in maximum vehicles and reach the maximum number of drivers.

One of the biggest names in the chip-making industry- Hailo, recently announced its collaboration with Renesas. Renesas, well-known for offering robust, energy-efficient solutions in motor vehicles, enables functions such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance) and AD (automated driving). Renesas is a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions that will make functions such as ADAS more accessible in different types of automobiles.

The Processors of the Next-Gen

The Hailo-8 processors are designed to accelerate heavy neural networks (NN). When combined with Renesas’ R-Car V4H system-on-chip (SoCs) Hailo-8 processors will result in efficient, yet cost-effective ADAS solutions for the vehicular ECUs.

Over the years, the ADAS and AD features have helped minimise vehicle accidents caused by vehicles, saving a plethora of lives. Yet, technological challenges remain that cause difficulty for the automakers. With the collaboration with Renesas, Hailo will develop a solution to democratise ADAS so that more people can enjoy its benefits.

Some of the essential features of the new solution founded by Hailo-Renesas include,

  • Independent scalability
  • Flexibility
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Best-in-class power efficiency
  • Passive cooling of the ECUs
  • Functional safety for ADAS and AD ECU
  • More control over the vehicle
  • More scope of innovation

These features are like never before and will revolutionise the way vehicles are operated.
